DESCRIPTION:The TTL-ETH is the TTL
logic level version of our popular
NET232.
This Adapter allows you to Internet (TCP/IP) enable any device or machine with a TTL
logic level serial port. Go from TCP/IP to TTL serial with the TTL-ETH. It features a powerful built-in device server, so you can access your
TTL serial device from anywhere in the world over
internet!
The TTL-ETH is easily configured via a web page, and can also be
set up through the TTL serial port. You can use DHCP, AutoIP or assign a Static IP address to the TTL-ETH!
TTL logic level serial ports differ from RS232
serial ports in their voltages. TTL serial ports operate on positive logic
level voltages, typically +5V indicates a "logic 1" and 0V indicates "logic 0".
RS232 serial ports on the other hand, specify "logic 1" at +5V and "logic 0" at
-5V.
The TTL-ETH will not work on RS232 serial ports and may be damaged if connected to an RS232 device. Please use the
NET232 for RS232 ports.
There are two basic modes of operation,
"Redirector" and "Serial Tunneling".
Redirector Mode:
In Redirector Mode, only one TTL-ETH is needed per
TTL serial device. ComPort Redirector Software (free with purchase) is
installed on your Windows PC to create a "virtual" COM Port (e.g. COM3).
You can then use this COM port in your Software application just as you would
any physical COM port attached to your PC. Create a virtual COM Port for
every TTL-ETH device on your network and connect to them all from a single PC!
Serial Tunneling Mode: In Serial
Tunneling mode, two TTL's are used to create a "Serial Tunnel" over Ethernet.
This can be thought of as cable replacement. Each TTL or NET232 is configured to
have a remote IP address that is the other TTL/NET232 in the pair. No software
is required to be loaded on a PC. This is also an excellent option for
non-windows PCs or computers. Now you can have an infinite length RS232 cable
connected over the internet.
