The BC832 is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 4.2 with NFC module that utilizes the Nordic nRF52832 SoC and has an integrated chip antenna. It comes fully equipped with 16 castellated pins, which is perfect for applications that require a limited number of GPIOs. There are also an additional 24 LGA (Land Grid Array) pins that provide access to all of the nRF52832 GPIO pins. This bluetooth module comes in a compact size of 7.8 x 8.8 x 1.2mm.
The BC832 module can operate in host mode or standalone mode. Host mode connects the device to a host via UART and utilizes AT commands. Standalone mode downloads firmware to the flash memory. Pending FCC ID and IC (Industrial Canada) ID certification, this bluetooth module has 512 KB flash, 64 KB RAM, and an embedded 2.4 GHz multi-protocol transceiver. The included Cortex M4F processor utilizes AES HW encryption.
This module allows for support of the leading smart home standards including Apple HomeKit.
NOTE: The BC832 does not come with pre-loaded firmware. To develop firmware, use the Nordic SDK which uses a free open-source toolchain. The SDK has a variety of options, including support for the ANT Network protocol, through which the module can be used in mesh and tree topologies without using BLE. This module is well suited to sensor applications.
