The BT832 is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with NFC module that operates using a Nordic nRF52832 and includes an integrated PCB trace antenna. The module comes in a compact size of 14.0 x 16.0 x 2.0mm and has hardware that meets the Bluetooth 5.0 specifications. The BT832 includes 16 castellated pins, which is perfect for applications requiring limited numbers of GPIOs. In addition to this, the 24 LGA (Land Grid Array) pins provide access to all of the nRF52832 GPIO pins.
This FCC ID and IC (Industrial Canada) ID certified product is capable of operating in host mode or standalone mode. The standalone mode downloads firmware directly to the flash memory. The host mode connects the device to a host using UART and utilizes AT commands. The BT832 has powerful features, such as 512 KB flash, 64 KB RAM, and an embedded 2.4 GHz multi-protocol transceiver. It utilizes the Cortex M4F processor, as well as AES HW encryption.
The BT832 is the ideal BLE module for IoT applications. The build-in Near-Field-Communication (NFC) can be used to easily and securely pair the module to other BLE devices, or to pass credentials from a smart phone or tablet to the module. In addition it has a built-in Temperature Sensor to monitor operating conditions. The ample on-module memory and Cortex M4F processor allows for development of even the most demanding IoT applications. Finally, the module features the Nordic nRF5282 chip which allows for support of the industry leading smart home standards including Apple HomeKit.
NOTE: The BT832 does not come with pre-loaded firmware. To develop firmware, use the Nordic SDK which uses a free open-source toolchain. The SDK has a variety of options, including support for the ANT Network protocol, through which the module can be used in mesh and tree topologies without using BLE. This module is well suited to sensor applications.
