The mbNETFIX is a self-learning, easy-to-configure, industrial firewall suited for automation applications. It can be operated in either bridge mode or gateway mode.
Bridge Mode is used for retrofitting existing networks; it protects the network and any data transfers between the WAN and LAN ports.
Gateway mode separates selected areas of a network and gives WAN and LAN interfaces separate IP addresses; this can be used to route data traffic to secondary networks.
The firewall is configured using the configuration software via the USB port, which helps keep attack vectors as small as possible.
Key benefits include:
The integrated learning function monitors the traffic, and the user can then explicitly block or release connections among the IP devices directly from a learned packet table. The integrated packet filler protects the network by blocking or releasing traffic between the WAN and LAN, which can be used to determine which communications to allow or prohibit. Additionally, the configuration tool generates an RSA key pair, which replaces the classic password method and secures mbNETFIX from brute force attacks.
