Product Description
The ComBricks Head Station Type 1B consists of a Type 1B Head Station and an expandable backplane unit. The Type 1B version of the Head Station includes ProfiTrace OE and allows you to monitor 1 PROFIBUS Network (note: the Type 1C Head Station is required to monitor 4 networks). You can upgrade the firmware license in the Type 1B Head Station to make it a Type 1C station at a later date, with no change to the hardware.
The Type 1B Head Station allows you to monitor one (1) PROFIBUS network remotely. The Ethernet port on the Head Station is used to connect the unit to the network.
All ComBricks systems consist of a Head Station, such as this Head Station Type 1B, plus up to 10 repeater modules. The repeater modules come with either one or two channels (PROFIBUS segments) each, so it is possible to build a backbone of up to 20 segments with a single ComBricks system.
ProfiTrace OE allows you to monitor the installation remotely over the network using just a web browser. It is now possible to check the health of your installation from anywhere in the world using ProfiTrace OE, thus allowing you to get maintenance personnel on the scene more quickly, and to diagnose and correct the problem fast.

A powerful feature of COMbricks is the ability to permanently monitor a PROFIBUS network (up to four networks may be simultaneously monitored with the 1C Headstation). Remote PROFIBUS Networks and a shortage of (qualified) technical staff, are causing significant network management problems. COMbricks offers a solution allowing staff to remotely monitor PROFIBUS installations over the Internet and by providing email alerts to key personnel.
COMbricks does not require any PC software. You only need a standard web browser to view network information in an understandable format (ProfiTrace OE). Moreover a constant connection with a PC to the COMbricks is NOT necessary. The information will be there waiting whenever you pull up the COMbricks ProfiTrace OE web-pages in your browser.
The monitoring and logging is performed by the repeater modules which are inserted in the backplane. COMbricks is the first system that has integrated the busmonitor into actual network components that serve another purpose (repeaters). Deploying COMbricks repeaters for regular automation means an automatic availability of ProfiTrace OE.
E-mail messages provide real-time alerts should malfunctions be detected in the PROFIBUS installation. These can be easily set up through ProfiTrace OE's configuration pages.
A brand new functionality within ProfiTrace OE is the device location detection. It gives a detailed overview of on which repeater segment the devices are installed.
