Product Description

The Ixxat CAN-CR200 repeater with 2 CAN interfaces and 1 CAN backbone interface improves the CAN bus load capacity, establishes a physical coupling of bus systems, and offers galvanic isolation. Multiple repeaters can be lined up and connected easily via the integrated DIN rail bus to create various topologies and optimize network structures.

This repeater is designed for industrial environments by meeting high demands for robustness, temperature range, and safety.  It helps to optimize CAN network structures by enabling extended layouts (stub lines, star and tree topologies). Having minimal impact on real-time behavior, equivalent to a short line length  (ca. 40 m/200 ns delay). the repeater enables transparent transmission compatible with all higher layer protocols.

Network reliability, monitoring and fault recovery

The CAN-CR200 ensures system reliability by electrically isolating CAN segments and power, auto-separating network faults and keeping the network operational. In case of disturbances in the CAN lines, the repeater automatically disconnects the affected segment and restores it after the fault is resolved, ensuring uninterrupted network operation.

System protection

Using the CAN-CR200, network components can be galvanically isolated up to 1 kV. This reliably enhances the protection of the device against damage to electronics caused by voltage peaks.

Extended connectivity

Equipped with two CAN channels, the CAN-CR200 can be used to establish a physical coupling and galvanic isolation of two segments of both CAN bus systems.

Backbone bus for simplified network expansion

To achieve tree or star topologies, multiple repeaters can be connected in series through the integrated backbone bus which seamlessly links them to a CAN hub for enhanced connectivity.

Integrated bus termination resistors

Integrated bus termination resistors (120 Ohm, switchable via DIP switch) prevent reflections on the line ends and ensure optimum communication.
