The DTM06-12SA-DB9/DB9 adapter lets you continue using standard DB9 adapter cables when your CANedge data logger is installed in an IP67 enclosure. The adapter converts the enclosure’s sealed DTM06-12SA connector into two DB9 male connectors that match the CANedge CH1 and CH2 pinouts.

Protect the logger, keep your cable options

The IP67 enclosure makes the CANedge dust-tight and waterproof, with a single DTM06-12SA connector on the outside. While a custom wiring harness for that port can be built, in most deployments, reusing your existing DB9 adapter cables is faster.

This adapter restores both DB9 interfaces outside the enclosure, allowing CANedge DB9 adapter cables to plug in directly, with no rewiring.

Installation note: The DTM06-12SA connector is IP67 rated. The DB9 connectors are not. For long-term outdoor or high-humidity installations, protect the DB9 connections or inspect the cables periodically.

Are the DB9 connectors IP67 rated?

No. Only the DTM06-12SA connector is IP67 rated. Short- to medium-term exposure to light dust and humidity rarely affects the DB9 connectors. For long-term installations, protect the DB9 connections or monitor the cables for replacement.

Do I need the CANedge IP67 enclosure to use this adapter?

Yes. The adapter is designed specifically for the IP67 enclosure and connects to its DTM06-12SA port. It does not plug directly into a CANedge.

Which DB9 adapter cables work with it?

Any CANedge DB9 adapter cable. The two DB9 male connectors follow CiA 303-1 and match the CANedge CH1 and CH2 pinouts, so existing cables work as they would on a standalone CANedge.

Can I use the H-MTD and MATEnet ports at the same time?

No. Only 1 SPE port is active at a time, selected by DIP switch or USB command. Switching between the ports from a script is a simple way to simulate a link failure during automated testing.

Which protocols does it support?

The adapter supports high-speed CAN per ISO 11898-2, including CAN FD (Flexible Data-rate), SAE J1939, and NMEA 2000. It also carries LIN (Local Interconnect Network) data lines for both channels on DB9 pin 4.

Does the adapter carry power to the CANedge?

Yes. Supply voltage (VCC) runs from DTM06-12SA pins 5 and 6 to CH1 DB9 pin 9, matching the CANedge CH1 pinout. CH2 provides a 5 V supply output on pin 1.
