Product Description

Protect your CANedge CAN (Controller Area Network) bus data logger from dust and water with the IP67 Enclosure Kit. This kit creates a dust-tight and short-term water resistant enclosure.

Simply mount the CANedge to the end plate’s PCB (printed circuit board), slide it into the enclosure, and fasten the end plate. Installation takes under 5 minutes, and all mounting hardware is included.

The kit is compatible with the CANedge1, CANedge2, and CANedge3. One IP67 DTM06-12SA connector exposes all relevant pins from both CANedge DB9 ports. Two IP67 SMA (SubMiniature version A) cables pass Wi-Fi, LTE (Long-Term Evolution), or GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna connections through the end plate.

Use it in heavy-duty vehicle fleets for mining, construction, and agriculture, or for NMEA 2000 logging on boats and ships. The end plate and CANedge come out as one unit without special tools, so you can retrieve the SD card in the field.

Installation

  1. Mate the CANedge with the DB9 connectors on the IP67 PCB.
  2. Fasten the CANedge flanges to the PCB with the 4 M3 screws.
  3. Connect the 2 SMA cables to the CANedge, if your model uses antennas.
  4. Power the device and confirm it records data.
  5. Insert the end plate and CANedge into the enclosure.
  6. Close the end plate firmly, fastening both sides.
  7. Mount the enclosure with the M6 bolts.

    Monitoring device status

    The CANedge LEDs are not visible once the unit is sealed in the enclosure. Monitor status with one of these methods instead:

    • CAN heartbeat: Configure the CANedge to send a heartbeat message on CAN1 or CAN2 with logging state, RTC (real-time clock) timestamp, and remaining SD storage. Read it with a CAN interface or display.
    • S3 heartbeat (CANedge2 and CANedge3): The device periodically uploads its JSON status file to your S3 server, so you can monitor it continuously in tools such as CANcloud.
