PCAN-Explorer 7 Add-in for Supporting CANdb and AUTOSAR XML

The Bus Descriptions Add-In for PCAN-Explorer 7 provides direct access to standardized CAN bus description formats, enabling structured use of network definitions within analysis and simulation workflows.

This add-in combines the former CANdb Import Add-In with added support for AUTOSAR XML. CANdb (.dbc) and AUTOSAR XML (.arxml) files can be used directly in PCAN-Explorer 7, allowing message and signal definitions to be brought into a project without manual conversion.

Specific messages can be selectively imported from database files, making it possible to focus on relevant network segments while keeping projects concise and manageable. Imported data is stored using PCAN-Explorer’s project administration function and converted into the native Symbol file format for consistent access across tools.

In addition to importing, symbol data can be exported back to CANdb or AUTOSAR XML formats. This supports bidirectional workflows, allowing symbol definitions created or modified in PCAN-Explorer to be reused in other environments or shared across teams and systems.

By supporting both established and modern CAN description standards, the Bus Descriptions Add-In simplifies integration of existing network definitions and maintains alignment between database files and active PCAN-Explorer projects.
