sensorProbe2+ Expansion: Include Power Supply

The AKCP sensorProbe2+ Expansion (SP2+E) is a 0U rack-mountable, network-connected environmental monitoring controller built for facilities that need to monitor both physical environment conditions and industrial equipment — from a single device, on a single network connection, with a single management interface.

Three of the four RJ45 ports are active standard sensor ports that accept the complete AKCP autosense sensor range: temperature probes, combined temperature and humidity sensors, water rope leak detectors, thermal map sensors, smoke detectors, door contacts, and more. Up to 20 dry contact inputs and outputs can be configured across those ports for third-party alarm integration with UPS units, security panels, and HVAC equipment. An internal buzzer provides a local audible alert whenever any threshold is crossed, independent of network connectivity.

The EXP port: one port, two capabilities.

The fourth RJ45 port on the SP2+E is a dedicated Expansion (EXP) port — and it is the feature that sets this model apart from every other SP2+ variant. The EXP port can be configured for either of two uses:

• Modbus RS485 interface: Connect third-party industrial equipment - generators, UPS units, power meters, HVAC controllers, environmental chambers - directly to the SP2+E. The unit acts as a Modbus-to-SNMP gateway, pulling register values from those devices and surfacing them alongside your AKCP sensor data. Monitored values are mapped to virtual sensors within the SP2+E web interface.
• AKCP expansion module connection: Connect up to four AKCP expansion units (E-Sensor8, E-Opto16) in a daisy-chain, extending your monitoring reach up to 1,000 feet from the controller without additional network infrastructure.

WIRING NOTE: Modbus RS485 uses Pin 1 (Data A / +) and Pin 2 (Data B / −) on the RJ45 EXP port. Standard autosense sensors must not be connected to this port.  Modbus RTU and expansion module connectivity are mutually exclusive on the same port: enabling Modbus RTU disables expansion module daisy-chaining, and vice versa.

Pro license included

The SP2+E ships with the Pro license pre-installed, activating all features required for Modbus RS485 integration: virtual sensors (5 included, expandable to 80 via license packs), IPv6, SNMP v3, VPN, RADIUS and TACACS authentication, sensor floor maps, heartbeat monitoring, cloud integration, and access control for up to 500 users. No additional license purchase is required to use any of these capabilities.

Power options

The SP2+E includes a 5.5VDC 3A power supply (100–240V input). The SP2+E-POE draws power from your existing PoE switch (IEEE 802.3af) — no adapter is included or needed. Both variants support dual-input power redundancy via optional external DC-DC conversion boxes (sold separately), accepting 12–24VDC or 48–60VDC inputs.

Browser-based access — no software required.

The SP2+E is fully accessible from any web browser: sensor dashboard, Modbus register mapping, configurable thresholds, alert rules, event log, and trend graphs are all built in. For centralized management across multiple AKCP devices, add Quicklime Sensor Monitoring Software. VPN support lets the SP2+E tunnel securely into Quicklime over any available network path.

What the Pro license adds

Compared to the Basic, the Pro license unlocks 5 virtual sensors (expandable up to 80 via license packs), sensor floor maps, 3rd party Modbus device monitoring, IPv6, SNMP v3, VPN connectivity, access control for up to 500 users, RADIUS/TACACS authentication, heartbeat monitoring, and cloud integration with Quicklime Sensor Monitoring Software.
