PROFIBUS Troubleshooting and Maintenance Class - Virtual Hands-on Edition: May 4 & 5 (2021)

TRAINING OVERVIEW

This virtual workshop is designed to provide hands-on training for anyone who installs or maintains PROFIBUS networks.  During the Pandemic, we have created a unique online training opportunity that provides  virtual “hands-on” exercises.  Students will remotely operate a laptop running the ProfiTrace tool that is connected to our training PROFIBUS networks. 

With a mixture of theory and practical hands-on exercises, students will learn and practice the skills needed for PROFIBUS installations.

• Understand PROFIBUS concepts, network components, cabling, grounding, and shielding.
• Find and isolate problems fast.
• Maintain, strategically isolate, analyze and solve complex problems.
• Use the latest troubleshooting tools including ProfiTrace 2, ScopeWare, ProfiCaptain 2, and TopologyScan.

 TRAINING ENVIRONMENT AND TOPICS COVERED

Within the virtual classroom a student is given a safe environment to experiment and learn on PROFIBUS networks designed for training and understanding troubleshooting.  The course instructor will remotely introduce problems giving participants the opportunity to work with a live installation and see these problems first hand. By means of practical exercises on real networks, the participants will put theory into practice.

 Theory Topics:

• PROFIBUS DP and PA
• RS 485 and MBP-IS properties
• Cabling techniques
• Grounding and shielding
• DP/PA segment couplers, repeaters and OLMs
• Fault finding strategies
• Measurement tools

 Hands-on Exercises:

• Protocol analysis with the ProfiTrace 2 Analyzer
• Signal analysis with ScopeWare (oscilloscope)
• Live Demonstration of ComBricks Network Monitoring

Class Day Information:

• Attendees will receive: a course book, writing materials and a certificate of participation.
• Class size limited to 8 people.
